     \u201cDoesn’t it seem strange that he’s with her. I mean she’s so…\u201d
\n     Skye shrugged. \u201cThat’s the kind of women people like Toby usually hook up with. Club gals who hiss a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n

     \u201cWho’s running that place?\u201d asked Skye.
\n     \u201cIt was either a thirty year old lesbian or a sixteen year old boy. I can’t be sure.\u201d<\/p>\n

     \u201cPleased to meet you.\u201d
\n     \u201cGive it a minute.\u201d<\/p>\n

     \u201cThat’s all we need is a brawl in the studio.\u201d
\n     Skye held up her hands. \u201cI don’t punch first!\u201d
\n     Tandasil slowly gave Skye a look. \u201cTry not to get people too worked up in the studio,\u201d<\/p>\n

     \u201cScather and Screecher,\u201d said Molly as she poured herself a cup of coffee. \u201cCan the world handle such combined hotness?\u201d
\n     \u201cI am not hot,\u201d protested Lee.
\n     \u201cYes you are,\u201d said Molly.
\n     \u201cListen to the dyke, hot stuff,\u201d smiled Skye.
\n     \u201cI am not hot,\u201d repeated Lee as she emphasized her crossed arms. \u201cI’m a fucking skeleton.\u201d
\n     \u201cThat’s not hot?\u201d said Molly as she sat down at the kitchen table. \u201cEvery grungy boy and goth girl on the planet wants a punk skeleton!\u201d<\/p>\n

     “I haven’t seen her since, jeez, last year sometime. She was gettin’ wasted at the Astroglide House.
\n     \u201cWhat?\u201d asked Harp. \u201cJunk?\u201d
\n     \u201cShe was smoking opium.\u201d
\n     \u201cOpium?\u201d winced Colleen. \u201cWhat the hell? Is she inside a forties detective novel or some shit?\u201d<\/p>\n

     \u201cSometimes talking about our past is complicated.\u201d
\n     \u201cPsh!\u201d dismissed John. \u201cI don’t know if it’s that complicated. It’s just fuckin’ embarrassing.\u201d<\/p>\n

     “What’s wrong with him?\u201d
\n     Tall and lanky walked behind his drum set. \u201cWell, his girlfriend kinda stabbed him.\u201d
\n     \u201cKind of stabbed him? How did he get kind of stabbed?\u201d<\/p>\n

     \u201cYou can handle it, right?\u201d asked Tandasil, still leaning on her desk.
\n     \u201cOh yeah. I mean, as long as we aren’t held up at gunpoint or the mixing board explodes.\u201d
\n     Tandasil scrunched her face. \u201cWhy would the mixing board explode?\u201d
\n     \u201cI never take anything for granted. I’ve seen too much weird shit in my time. I mean, if we got attacked by homicidal lesbian terrorists or the sound engineer died in a baby goat stampede I’d doubt if I’d even blink.\u201d<\/p>\n

     Molly shook her head. \u201cI don’t know what I’m gonna do with the two of you.\u201d
\n     \u201cYou’ll hate us now but love us later.\u201d
\n     \u201cI already love you, you fucking bitch!\u201d
\n     \u201cThat’s it, keep it classy,\u201d smiled Skye.<\/p>\n

     \u201cHelp. I’m being held hostage by kittens.\u201d<\/p>\n

     “I don’t know why he always wants me to come over.\u201d
\n     Molly looked Skye up and down. \u201cHe wants a sexy bad girl is what he wants.\u201d<\/p>\n

     Skye had been so struck by the tall, tattooed woman that she had not noticed Preston by her side.
\n     \u201cWhat the fuck is Preston doing with that Amazon?\u201d asked Skye.
\n     \u201cThat’s his girlfriend,\u201d said Molly as she started to walk across the street.
\n     \u201cJesus Christ, that ball buster?\u201d asked Skye as she followed Molly.
\n     \u201cRight? I hope he’s using a net!\u201d <\/p>\n

     \u201cReally? You started a fight at one of our shows?\u201d
\n     \u201cIt didn’t last long. We got pulled apart pretty quick.\u201d
\n     \u201cStill, that’s quite a compliment.\u201d<\/p>\n

     \u201cSay something in German.\u201d
\n     \u201cSomething in German.\u201d
\n     \u201cNo, I mean, something in German, in German.\u201d
\n     \u201cEtwas auf Deutsch.\u201d
\n     \u201cWhat does that mean?\u201d
\n     \u201cShe just said ‘Something in German’,\u201d explained Clark.<\/p>\n

     \u201cYou’re too down for this game. You already know me too well.\u201d
\n     \u201cAll those Gilman nights. You were always fucking up in the pit.\u201d
\n     Judy shook her head. \u201cI don’t know why you girls do that to yourselves. Life’s hard enough without slamming into each other.\u201d
\n     \u201cGotta get our ya yas out,\u201d said Trilly. \u201cWe’re too dangerous if we don’t.\u201d<\/p>\n

     She wondered if she had truly felt a moment of actual serenity, a fleeting moment where she was simply present, where her mind was clear and calm, drinking in a few serene seconds where she was not consumed or seething with the slow burn of modern urban life.
\n     Actual serenity.
\n     She was not sure if she liked it or not.<\/p>\n

     \u201cYou’re not planning on killing me and hiding my body, are you?\u201d
\n     \u201cNot here. I keep my boyfriends’ bodies in my basement,\u201d<\/p>\n

     \u201cEvery power dyke in the scene has a massive crush on her too. And she’s a switch hitter.\u201d
\n     \u201cShe gets hit on all the time, right?\u201d
\n     Molly took a step back. \u201cFuck no. Everyone’s frightened of her.\u201d
