The Right has Always Hated Science

Conservatives hate science. They always have.

They loathe the vast army of scientists and researchers who are sounding the alarm bells about climate change. Corporations are responsible for that propaganda, because they would rather make as much profit as possible, even at the cost of destroying the planet.

Evangelists hate the theory of evolution and the researchers who tell us that the earth is billions of years old, rather than just a few thousand years old.

They hate nutritionists who insist we need to ban junk food advertising on children’s television shows, that people need to be informed about the nutritional content of the food they buy, that we need to get junk food and fast food out of underfunded schools who have turned to such companies for badly needed educational funds.

They hate the “radical left” for promoting and advocating universal heath care in the US, saying it would be untenable, even though we are the only industrial nation without government supported healthcare. The only one.

They also hated activists and scientists who insisted the government do something about the AIDs epidemic when it hit the United States, much the same way they are shrugging off all of the experts clamoring for them to do something about the current pandemic, Covid-19.

Trump and the GOP hate Covid-19, because they hate the idea of shutting down the nation to stem the tide, because it means the rich and the powerful will not be able to reap the millions of the economy if it stalled.

They literally do not care if people die so long as they reap rewards. Even now, they divert PPP loans and hawk unproven methods to make themselves richer and more powerful, even now, with so many American citizens suffering and dying.

They do not care if you die.

They do not care if I die.

They do not care if your friends, your family, your coworkers, or anyone else who isn’t rich or powerful dies.

They are a death cult.

And one of the biggest reasons is their hatred of science. They have always been that way, and there’s very little hope that will ever change.
