    This is an excerpt from my novel-in-progress A Long Slow Aftermath. This scene introduces the main character Preston’s Narcotics Anonymous friends Haste and Durant as they talk about the art of going South of the border!<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/center><\/p>\n

     \u201cI swear, I can still taste her,\u201d said Haste.
\n     \u201cTaste her?\u201d asked Preston.
\n     \u201cHer pussy. I can still taste it.\u201d
\n     They were in the corner of the church parking lot, far away from the bright open doors to the meeting room. Haste and Durant were smoking cigarettes as people drifted towards the meeting room.
\n      \u201cWhat? Hella funky?\u201d asked Durant.
\n     \u201cNaw, that’s the thing,\u201d said Haste. \u201cIt tasted just like a regular vagina. Kinda sweet even. She wasn’t funky or anythin’. But man, the taste of her fuckin’ lingers.\u201d
\n     \u201cMaybe you should brush your teeth,\u201d suggested Preston.
\n      \u201cI did. And chewed gum. And drank soda. Her cootch keeps washing back on me.\u201d
\n     \u201cHow though?\u201d asked Durant. \u201cI mean, if she wasn’t super funky.\u201d
\n     \u201cI dunno. There was some damn super glue up in there maybe. Or maybe I swallowed something.\u201d
\n     \u201cSwallowed part of her vag?\u201d asked Preston.
\n      \u201cMaybe a globule.\u201d
\n     \u201cOh dude,\u201d winced Durant.
\n     Haste and Durant were part of Preston’s Narcotics Anonymous circle. All three of them had been to state run rehabs. Both Haste and Durant were bald, only Haste was tall and slim and Durant was short and wide. Preston felt he fit in quite well as he was shorter than Haste, but taller than Durant, and he was in between both of them in weight class.
\n     They were also scene punks like Preston. Preston remembered them from his days of going to Ruthie’s Inn as well as from his old Gilman Club days, and many other clubs, venues, and other random events involving punks and general chaos. They were not part of his regular crew from those days, but he had known them well enough. Preston could not remember having seen either one of them in anything other than black jeans and black band shirts. Even now, they were a trio of dressed-in-all-black clean and sober punks.
\n      \u201cSo she was a gusher?\u201d asked Durant,
\n      \u201cShe’s not a gusher so much,\u201d replied Haste. \u201cI mean, not like a couple of other women I’ve been with.\u201d
\n     \u201cDid it take her a while to climax?\u201d asked Preston.
\n     \u201cYeah. Longer than usual. Almost half an hour.\u201d
\n     \u201cHoly crap,\u201d said Durant. \u201cHalf an hour?\u201d
\n     \u201cBig deal,\u201d snorted Preston. \u201cI’ve gone longer than that.\u201d
\n     \u201cWith who?\u201d asked Haste.
\n     \u201cI used to have an FWB that I’d get together with once in a while.\u201d
\n     \u201cFWB?\u201d asked Durant.
\n     \u201cFriend with benefits,\u201d said Haste.
\n      \u201cShe loved to get eaten out,\u201d continued Preston. \u201cThe thing is it took her a really long time for her to climax.\u201d
\n     \u201cLike how long?\u201d asked Durant.
\n     \u201cUsually forty five minutes to an hour.\u201d
\n     \u201cHoly shit!’
\n     \u201cHalf an hour if you were lucky. Her record was an hour and forty five minutes.\u201d
\n     \u201cDamn!\u201d said Haste. \u201cCould you talk afterwards?\u201d
\n     \u201cKind of,\u201d said Preston. \u201cMy jaw was hell of sore and stiff, and I got a small welt on my tongue later on.\u201d
\n     \u201cShe really got off for that long?\u201d asked Durant. \u201cMost women I know would’ve asked you to stop if it was taking too long.\u201d
\n     \u201cOh yeah. She loved every minute of it.\u201d
\n     \u201cNow that’s endurance!\u201d said Haste.
\n     \u201cI say bullshit,\u201d said Durant. \u201cYou weren’t down on a woman that long. No way.\u201d
\n     Preston shrugged. \u201cOkay. Don’t believe me. But it happened.\u201d
\n     “She must’ve tasted good then,” said Durant.
\n     “Oh yeah,” said Preston. “I swear, one time she tasted like Diet Coke.”
\n     “What? Why Diet coke? Not like regular Coke?”
\n     “Nah. The diet stuff.”
\n     “You can tell the difference, which kind of cola a woman tastes like?” asked Haste.
\n     “Yeah. Some gals are Coca Cola, some are RC, and I think I had a Sprite once.”
\n     “Yeah sure,” replied Haste uncertainly.
\n     \u201cYou really had a woman who tasted like soda?\u201d asked Durant.<\/p>\n

<\/center><\/p>\n

     \u201cSometimes they taste like soap,\u201d said Haste. \u201cY’know, if they wash themselves before the act and they don’t rinse enough.\u201d
\n     \u201cJust keep licking and the taste goes away after a few minutes,\u201d said Preston.
\n     \u201cOh man,\u201d exasperated Durant.
\n     \u201cI had one who tasted like some kinda flowers,\u201d said Haste. \u201cShe put something on herself before I went down on her. Kinda like a flavor enhancer.\u201d
\n     \u201cI had one gal who I swear to God tasted like chamomile tea.\u201d
\n     \u201cTea?\u201d said Durant. \u201cAll your women taste like beverages?\u201d
\n     \u201cWhere’s the whiskey woman?\u201d asked Haste.
\n     \u201cMaybe one or two who tasted like vodka, but not whiskey.\u201d
\n     \u201cThat’s crazy,\u201d said Durant.
\n     Haste looked at Durant. \u201cSo you never had a woman taste like something? Reminded you of a taste or a smell?\u201d
\n     Durant paused for a moment. \u201cI did go down on one gal whose taste reminded me of Crayola crayons.\u201d
\n     \u201cNo shit?\u201d asked Preston.
\n     \u201cI couldn’t place the taste at first. It was weird. But I thought about it while I was eating her out, and then I thought, Crayola crayons!\u201d
\n     \u201cDid she have a crayon up there?\u201d asked Haste.
\n     \u201cWho knows.\u201d
\n     \u201cSo was that a good or a bad thing?\u201d asked Preston.
\n     \u201cWell, it was just interesting. It wasn’t a good or bad taste. But I was thinking about crayons during sex.\u201d
\n     \u201cOh man,\u201d groaned Haste. \u201cNot the best time for childhood memories.\u201d
\n     \u201cHell, I didn’t think about my childhood when I had a bubble gum woman,\u201d said Preston.
\n     Durant dug through his pockets and pulled out a cigarette carton. \u201cFuck. Outta cigarettes.\u201d
\n     Haste held out a cigarette for Durant.
\n     \u201cThanks,\u201d said Durant. \u201cI’ll smoke it during the break. I don’t got enough time to smoke it before the meeting starts.\u201d
\n     \u201cI once had a gal who was super quick,\u201d said Haste. \u201cYou couldn’t eat her out for more than a minute, maybe two if you were lucky, before she had a richter scale orgasm.\u201d
\n     \u201cYeah?\u201d
\n     \u201cAnd I mean a curled up in a fetal position and shivering uncontrollably type of climax. She was so damn sensitive I was afraid to shake hands with her.\u201d
\n     \u201cThis conversation reminds me of a hook up I once had,\u201d said Preston.
\n     \u201cDo tell,\u201d said Durant.
\n     \u201cAt a party, friend of a friend, my friend’s roommate. She was on a hard rebound at the time. Just had a really gnarly breakup. I found her hanging around in the hallway, away from the party. She looked kinda lonely so I went and talked to her.\u201d
\n     \u201cKinda lonely huh?\u201d asked Haste.
\n     \u201cYeah.\u201d
\n     \u201cWhat was she like?\u201d asked Durant.
\n     \u201cSorta sketchy. Kind of a fashion punk. Guitarist. Used to play for the Dreaded Losers. Anyways, we chatted for a while and then she says ‘I wanna get away from this party.’ And I says ‘But you live here. Where you gonna go?’\u201d
\n     \u201cYou take her back to your place?\u201d asked Durant.
\n     \u201cNaw. She says ‘I’m just gonna go hang out in my room.’ Then she reaches down, takes my hand, places it on her breast and says, ‘You can come join me if you want.’\u201d
\n     \u201cOkay then!\u201d said Durant.
\n     \u201cNo shit?\u201d asked Haste.
\n     \u201cTrue story.\u201d
\n     \u201cI assume you took the hint?\u201d asked Haste.
\n     \u201cI was presumptuous. I took it as a hint.\u201d
\n     \u201cDid she really do that?\u201d asked Durant.
\n     Haste looked at Durant. \u201cHell, I’ve had gals do stuff like that to me.\u201d
\n     \u201cReally?\u201d
\n     \u201cWhen I was younger and prettier. I’ve had gals walk up to me and place their hands on my crotch, I’ve had my butt pinched and grabbed, and at one party a woman walked up to me and just shoved her hand down my shirt and started copping a feel.\u201d
\n     \u201cDid she give a reason for doing that?\u201d asked Preston.
\n     \u201cI did ask. She heard from my ex Wacky Jackie that I had small nipples. She wanted to do her own personal research on the topic.\u201d
\n     \u201cWas it true?\u201d
\n     \u201cIt took her a while to find them.\u201d
\n     Preston looked at Durant. \u201cYou’ve never had a sketchy punk do something crazy when she wanted it?\u201d
\n     \u201cWell, kind of, one time when I was gettin’ wasted with a junky.\u201d
\n     \u201cDo tell,\u201d said Haste who leaned towards Durant to hear the story.
\n     \u201cI was layin’ on my bed, higher than a kite. She was high too, but not as fucked up as me. I was just starin’ at the ceiling, enjoying my high, and she’s wanderin’ around the room doin’, somethin’, I dunno what. I wasn’t payin’ attention. And suddenly she lays down right next to me, on her side, and starts starin’ at me with this blank look on her face.\u201d
\n     \u201cYeah?\u201d said Haste. \u201cThat’s it?\u201d
\n     \u201cNaw. She had taken all of her clothes off.\u201d
\n     \u201cNo shit?\u201d asked Preston.
\n     \u201cNot a stitch on. An’ she’s just starin’ at me, not sayin’ or doin’ anything! And I’m tryin’ to figure out what’s goin’ on because I was super high and I was really confused. So I started thinkin’ to myself, this might be a clue. Like her way of hinting that she wanted me to do somethin’.\u201d
\n     Haste pointed at Durant. \u201cNow that’s just being presumptuous!\u201d
\n     \u201cLucky for me it did turn out to be a hint, because she wouldn’t stop starin’ at me, so I tried somethin’ an’ yeah, it was her way of lettin’ me know she wanted to get it on.\u201d
\n     \u201cWhile you were higher than a kite,\u201d said Preston.
\n     \u201cThere’s a lot about that evening I don’t remember. That part I remember for sure! Other stuff not so much.\u201d
\n     \u201cPeople are startin’ to go inside,\u201d said Haste as he glanced at the doors to the meeting hall. All of the parking lot talkers and smokers were drifting inside.
\n     \u201cI don’t mind goin’ in late,\u201d said Preston. \u201cI got those readings memorized.\u201d
\n     \u201cShit, I memorized them months ago,\u201d said Haste.
\n     \u201cDon’t let Parsons and the cool crew hear you talkin’ like that,\u201d said Durant. \u201cY’all gonna get a talkin’ to.\u201d
\n     \u201cYeah, yeah,\u201d dismissed Preston. \u201cWhen the too cool types start givin’ me shit I just stare at them and let their voices go all wobbly.\u201d
\n     \u201cWhat? Like you’re trippin’?\u201d asked Haste.
\n      \u201cNaw. You space out right and they start to sound like the adults on those old Peanuts cartoons.\u201d
\n     \u201cRight. Womp womp womp.\u201d
\n     \u201cHere comes your girlfriend,\u201d said Durant to Preston as he looked over his shoulder.
\n     Preston and Haste turned to see Lee approaching them. She was dressed head-to-toe in her traditional black clothing.
\n     \u201cShe ain’t my girlfriend. We just know each other from the club days.\u201d
\n     \u201cShe hella scrawny,\u201d said Haste, \u201cBut man she is ripped.\u201d
\n     \u201cShe works out.\u201d
\n     \u201cI usually ain’t into skinny chicks,\u201d said Durant, \u201cbut she somehow gets my motor goin’.\u201d
\n     \u201cThere’s something alluring about a woman who can kick the shit outta ya’,\u201d said Haste.
\n     \u201cShe can fight?\u201d asked Durant.
\n     Lee walked up to the group. She looked at Preston through her dangling black hair. \u201cIsn’t there something in your probation about not hanging out with guys like these?\u201d said Lee as she pointed at Haste and Durant.
\n     \u201cHa ha,\u201d said Durant.
\n     \u201cDon’t tell my parole officer,\u201d said Preston.
\n     \u201cPreston says you’re a real ass kicker,\u201d said Haste.
\n     \u201cDid he now? Well, I might just have to kick his ass!\u201d
\n     \u201cPromises, promises,\u201d said Preston.
\n     \u201cI box. As well as the usual work out stuff.\u201d
\n     \u201cMan, I need to start workin’ out,\u201d said Durant as he patted his stomach.
\n     Lee looked at Durant. \u201cCome with me the next time I go to Game Changer Fitness. A few weeks with my gal Jenn and you’ll be in better shape.\u201d
\n     \u201cWhat? Say what?\u201d
\n     \u201cYou said you wanted to start working out, right?\u201d
\n     Durant quickly glanced at Preston and Haste before looking at lee again. \u201cWell, I kinda got this back thing and like…\u201d
\n     Lee put her hand on Durant’s shoulder. \u201cCome try out a boot camp. Jenn helped me increase my upper body strength like you wouldn’t believe.\u201d
\n     \u201cWhat? Like weight lifting?\u201d
\n     \u201cWeights, kettlebells, burpees, and pushing a giant sled made outta metal with a buncha weights on it.\u201d
\n     \u201cOh man. That sounds like work.\u201d
\n     \u201cOr torture,\u201d said Haste.
\n     \u201cIt’s both!\u201d said Lee with a wide smile.
\n     \u201cLet’s get inside,\u201d said Preston.<\/p>\n
