Smeg Trek is a parody teleplay combining the Star Trek series Voyager with the
science fiction comedy series Red Dwarf.

The story takes on the parallel predicaments of the Voyager and Red Dwarf crews,
both of them lost in space, both having to forage for supplies, and both facing
long and arduous journeys back home.

The crew of Red Dwarf, navgating their way through the Delta Quadrant in
Starbug, cross paths with the lost Federation Starship Voyager. They strike
a deal to retrieve the adrift mining ship Red Dwarf, which is inconveniently
located in the midst of a psychotic inter-galactic version of girls-versus-boys,
as a warring matriarchy and a violent patriarchy stand in their way.

I wrote Smeg Trek after watching a weekend long marathon of Red Dwarf on a
local PBS station which included every single episode from the first six
seasons. With Red Dwarf still ringing in my ears, I couldn't resist
writing out a quick parody that also included the all-too similarly
themed show Star Trek:Voyager. Being a lifelong Trekkie helped me
conjure up the appropriate material for the Star Trek side of the story.
